When you work for yourself, it’s easy to miss your wins.
You’re one person doing the job of many—CEO, marketer, accountant, customer service, operations, IT, and coffee runner—and in the constant motion of running your business, those moments of progress can get lost in the shuffle.
But here’s the truth: every win matters.
When you stop to notice and acknowledge them, you fuel your motivation, reinforce your confidence, and create a positive momentum that carries you forward, especially on the days when everything feels uphill.
The Power of a “Wins Journal”
One of the simplest and most effective ways to make your wins visible is to keep a dedicated “wins journal.” Any time something great happens—no matter the size—write it down.
- Landed a new client? Write it down.
- Figured out a tech issue that’s been haunting you? Write it down.
- Received kind feedback from a customer? Write it down.
- Finally ticked off that big, scary task? Write it down.
Then, every Friday, take five minutes to review your week. You might be surprised by how much you’ve accomplished—things you might not have even noticed in the moment.
Celebrating wins isn’t just for the hard days when you need a pick-me-up. It’s also for the good days, when you’re building momentum and want to double down on your motivation.

Why Sharing Your Wins Matters
Private celebration is important—but sharing your wins publicly can have an even bigger impact.
When you post about a win, you’re not bragging. You’re showing:
- What happened
- How it made you feel
- The impact on your business or customers
This does two things:
- It lets your network cheer you on, creating deeper connection and visibility for your work.
- It inspires other women to notice and celebrate their own wins.
That ripple effect can be powerful. Celebrating your success gives other entrepreneurs permission to celebrate theirs. And that encouragement helps us all keep going.

The Starting Her Business Approach
At Starting Her Business, our mission is to help women build confidence, find support, and grow a community that celebrates success—no matter the scale.
Because when we lean on one another:
- We reduce imposter syndrome
- We grow faster and more sustainably
- We feel less alone in the journey
The entrepreneurial path can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. By acknowledging your wins—both privately and publicly—you not only strengthen your own mindset, you help other women do the same.
Your Challenge This Week
- Start your wins journal today. Keep it in your notebook, phone, or project management tool—whatever works for you.
- Review it every Friday to see just how much you’ve done.
- Share one win publicly—whether that’s on social media, in a newsletter, or in your business community.
Your small win could be the spark for someone else’s big breakthrough.
So pop the confetti. Raise a glass. And remember: there’s no such thing as a “small” win in business—only steps forward.
